Alario Claudio is a small winery that produce Barolo Wines located in Diano D’Alba, one of the eleven villages of the Barolo Region production. They are a small family winery and they are so focused on quality with a total production of 45’000 bottles per year.
This particular Nebbiolo d’Alba has been vinified with a longer maceration than the first two. For being “just” a Nebbiolo, this wine spends an extended amount of time in oak barrels resulting in an amazing and complex Nebbiolo. If you want to have fun you can try to trick some of your Barolo expert friends and see if they confuse it for a Barolo because of its body, complexity and elegance! This bottle is from a great vintage and as Alario said in the interview, it’s very beautiful now with young tannins expressive nose with more notes of oak but could be easily drunk in 10 to 15 years time. This is our powerful baby Barolo!
The “Nebbiolo d’Alba” DOC classified wine comes from Nebbiolo vineyards located just outside the Barolo and Barbaresco Regions, where in theory, it could never become a potential Barolo or Barbaresco. This denomination requires a lower max bottle production compared to the DOC Langhe Nebbiolo and must be 100% Nebbiolo grape.
