Carnevale I am always sick… Carnevale I go dancing “in maschera” (in costume)… Carnevale is all about fried foods and confetti everywhere!
I can’t exactly say I like Carnevale but I am always dragged into events and dressing up because of my personal traditions. I just can’t break the ties!
One of these traditions is eating “bugie”. A lot of you food bloggers out there are writing about your fried cookie recipes and although I don’t want to bore you with mine, I just couldn’t resist posting a picture of Claudio’s mom’s version along with her very “vague” recipe! In our area they make “bugie” (lies) which are flat and puffed up in the middle. Sometimes they are filled with jams or Nutella and can be baked for a healthier version.
Recipe: ( sorry for its inaccuracy)
- 1/2 kg of flour
- 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 cup of dry white wine
the recipe is great, except I am afraid I will burn my fingers when measuring the depth of the oil in the pan. Just kidding 🙂 – like it a lot!
The Abruzzese make this too.
An appetizing photo and excellent recipe, except I am afraid I may burn my fingers when measuring the oil depth. Just kidding!!
Great to see this documented, as the Abruzzese make these too. (K)
Do you know what the Abruzzese recipe is? which shapes they use? If you have your own versions write them here!
here is another tuscan version! http://www.ilpalazzone.com/il-palazzone-2/crogetti-di-carnevale-a-recipe-and-a-reflection/
